Toronto, Ontario — Tesla drivers looking for a little more middle ground in red paint options can get excited about the newly launched “Ultra Red” paint shade from the EV automaker, now available on Model S and X vehicles.
According to Tesla brand observers, this new shade is expected to replace the Red Multi-coat option on models produced at the company’s Fremont, California assembly plant; vehicles produced in other regions will likely still be offered with the standard Red Multi-coat option, however.
Tesla announced the bold new colour option on Thursday via Twitter, sharing with followers a video of Ultra Red Tesla vehicles speeding down a winding cliffside highway.
This new paint option provides a middle of the road paint option for drivers, as Ultra Red is notably lighter in tone than the Midnight Cherry Red paint, but slightly darker than the basic Red Multi-coat.
The new Ultra Red paint option is available now as an add-on for Tesla Model S and X vehicles for the price of US$3,000.
