The Road to 2035: Automakers and automotive dealers launch dashboard to offer consumers and industry members with Canadian electrification updates

Toronto, Ontario — The Canadian Automobile Dealers Association (CADA), the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers Association (CVMA) and the Global Automakers of Canada (GAC) have developed The Countdown to 2035 as part of a larger initiative aimed at helping industry leaders understand the steps needed in the country’s shift to electrification.

The Countdown to 2035 specifically aims to offer leading automotive industry associations with a dashboard that offers up-to-date information on the charging and infrastructure gaps that need to be addressed if Canada is to achieve its zero-emission vehicle sales targets by 2035.

“As the Federal Government’s ZEV aspirations start to meet market realities around the country, the Countdown to 2035 will provide valuable information and insights as to what is required, where and at what place,” commented Tim Reuss, President and CEO of CADA in a recent press release.

“The bottom line is Canadians need federal action for better, more reliable charging infrastructure and supports for purchasing ZEVs in every segment of the market.”

Brian Kingston, President and CEO of the CVMA further commented in the same press release that “higher levels of ZEV adoption will be driven by consumer demand, not government mandates. Canadians cannot be mandated to purchase electric vehicles without first providing them with the ability to conveniently charge their vehicles no matter where they live.”
