Toronto, Ontario — Tesla is reportedly looking to upgrade its Model 3 and potentially Model Y models with a larger and more efficient battery pack.
As noted by Drive Tesla Canada, the battery pack upgrade, referred to as the CATL “6M” or “E1A,” features a four percent net capacity increase from 60kWh to 62.5kWh and aims to increase vehicle range, performance and charging speed.
Moreover, according to X user @eivissacopter, this increased battery capacity will potentially be offered on the 2025 Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) configuration.
Drive Tesla Canada further noted that even with a four percent increase in battery capacity, the new battery pack is reported to weigh one kilogram less than its predecessor. The new battery is also expected to feature improved DC fast charging speeds.
This is a developing story.
