Victoria, British Columbia — About 250 public fast-chargers for electric vehicles will be installed in British Columbia, according to the provincial government and a $26 million investment dedicated to the project.
The exact locations for the chargers have not been announced, but it was said some will be located in areas to complete the Electric Highway, a plan to have EV chargers available in every corner of the province.
British Columbia is one of North America’s leading regions when it comes to EV adoption. In 2022, zero-emissions sales in B.C. accounted for 18.1 percent of all new light-duty passenger vehicles; the highest percentage for any province or territory in Canada.
At the end of 2022, B.C. had more than 3,800 charging stations installed, growing from 781 stations in 2016.
