Hot Topics: Agenda and speaker topics for Collision Repair’s EV Tour

Toronto, Ontario — We are a mere seven days from Collision Repair magazine’s EV Tour, supported by Fix Network.

Anyone in the Canadian collision repair industry is welcome to attend this free event–spots are filling up fast, so register now to secure your spot at this industry-leading event.

Doors will open for registration at 10 a.m. The event is located at Fix Network’s Milton headquarters at 8400 Lawson Rd., in Milton, Ont.

Speaker presentations will begin at 11 a.m. with David Giles of EVPowered Consulting and Consulab. A longtime member of the collision repair industry, Giles has been tinkering with high-voltage vehicles since 2004. Giles will deliver his overview of electric vehicle repair, including information on the state of the industry and where EVs are being routed in the collision repair market. He will also get into details of financial opportunities around electric vehicles. Collision Repair would like to thank LKQ Corp. for sponsoring Giles’ inclusion in our EV Tour.

After a question-and-answer period–which each session of the day will end with–Joseph Chung from Call2Recycle Canada will take the mic.  As one of the minds behind Call2Recycle’s end-of-life EV battery recycling strategies, Chung will discuss the logistics of EV batteries, including the history of their technologies, the current lifecycle and how to handle EV batteries today.

After a free food truck lunch from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., Martyn Johns of NAPA/UAP will give the audience a “wake-up call” talk to address to dangers of  EVs and why they should be taken seriously. Johns will also discuss details on what kind of equipment collision centres will need to safely complete high-voltage repairs; how to future-proof your facility and teams; as well as the training available through NAPA/UAP’s Nexxdrive program, designed to help you achieve these goals.

Alan McLelland of Centennial College will round out the speaking portion of the day to give the audience a perspective on student training: how Centennial is preparing students for the electric future; advice on merging much-needed training into your current, busy schedules; new technologies on the horizon from the OEMs we know, and all the emerging ones we may not be familiar  with.

The trade show floor will open at 3 p.m., allowing attendees a chance to chat with speakers and sponsors until the event closes at 4 p.m.

Again, anyone in the industry is welcome to attend this FREE event! If you or anyone from your team is interested in participating, please visit evrepairmag.com/ev-repair-tour/toronto/ and fill out a registration form.
