Welcome to Halifax! While passing through on October 9 we will discuss the importance of all things EV. Don’t forget to register for this exciting event! This is one you won’t want to miss!
Brendan has had the pleasure of highlighting the environmental, financial and societal benefits of electric transportation to the public 5+ years through the EV outreach program, Next Ride. During his time at Next Ride, he has co-led or consulted on 26 fleet studies, published a peer reviewed paper on fast charging development in Nova Scotia and engaged with an estimated 8 thousand Blue Nosers.
Besides Brendan’s work within the EV industry, he was also a member of our Royal Navy for 11 years (and 5 days) and owned and operated two separate businesses.
He speaks basic Spanish & French and tries to play several instruments – poorly.
As CAA Atlantic’s “EV Guy” Kurt Sampson is responsible for CAA’s lead-by-example fleet electrification, working with EV stakeholders across the region to facilitate electric transportation, helping the public through the sustainable transition through education, and making sure that CAA leads the charge so we can anticipate member needs and provide supportive member services along the way. Kurt is also the Executive Director of the Electric Vehicle Association of Atlantic Canada, the President of Tesla Owners Atlantic Canada, a regional representative on the Electric Vehicle Society & Electric Mobility Canada, and a national representative in the Global EV Alliance.
Kurt also grew up on a used car dealership, rebuilt bodies & engines, maintained dozens of vehicles of all shapes & sizes, hybrids & fully electrics, and still performs most of the maintenance on his 9YO EV, with over half a million kms, from his driveway.
Andrew MacDonald grew up in Truro, Nova Scotia, and has been married to his wife Katie for six years. He attended the University of Waterloo for Mechanical Engineering and worked for five years as an engineer with Toyota before purchasing his family business, Maritime Auto Parts in 2012.
Andrew also co-owns Fix Auto Truro and Fix Auto Enfield and, in 2022, he opened NOVUS Glass in Elmsdale. Andrew is a member of the Rotary Club of Truro; vice president of the Automotive Recyclers of Atlantic Canada and is the President of the Portapique Community Centre, leading the Portapique Community Build Up+ project.
Andrew is also a father to three-year-old Rose and one-year-old June.
