U.S. President Joe Biden made a commitment to the auto industry on Thursday, committing to having EV sales make up half of American auto sales by the end of the decade.

Biden also said he will put pressure on automakers to continue to cut emissions, as well as expressing the need for vital EV components like batteries and semiconductors be produced in the U.S.

“The question is whether we lead or fall behind in the race for the future,” said Biden. “Folks, the rest of the world is moving ahead. We have to catch up.”

E-Z EV Access

Electric car dealer chain, All EV Canada, is making big moves on the east coast as the company prepares to open two new shops in Newfoundland.

All EV’s new St. John’s and Corner Brook locations will be set up to sell pre-owned EVs, with two more shops to come in Atlantic Canada.

General Manager Jeff Farwell says they will also be offering a free educational course called “which EV is right for me?” to help people with the transition.

Spreading the Word

The Canadian government has announced that the millions in clean energy investment dollars dished out in July will serve as the kick-off to the country’s first ever “EV Week in Canada.”

“EV Week in Canada is about promoting and highlighting the benefits of owning and driving Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEV) in Canada,” wrote a spokesperson from Transport Canada.

“Transportation is the second largest source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Canada, accounting for a quarter of Canada’s total emissions. Decarbonizing the transportation sector will be essential to meeting Canada’s climate change commitments.”
