Regina, Saskatchewan—As of June 1, 2025, The Government of Saskatchewan will double the cost of registration for electric vehicles in the province.
Notably, the provincial government says it will increase registration costs for electric vehicles from $150 to $300 per vehicle.
The increase in registration fees will reportedly go towards fixing roads in the province.
The provincial government noted that it wants to ensure that EV owners are contributing a comparable amount to those with gas-powered vehicles who currently pay for road maintenance through Saskatchewan’s provincial gas tax.
The increased surcharge will be collected by Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI).
