Detroit, Michigan —Tesla knocked the second- and third-best-selling EV makers out of the water when it came to Q1 2023 sales numbers.
Tesla says it delivered a record 422,875 units in Q1 2023. General Motors, with record-setting Chevy Bolt numbers, posted 19,700 unit sales—hot off 2022 recalls. The Cadillac Lyriq and Hummer EVs were less hot on the market, selling 968 and two units, respectively.
Ford’s 41 percent rise in EV sales (the automaker sold 10,866 EVs in the U.S. in Q1 2023) evened out to 5,407 Mustang Mach-E units, a 19.7 percent decrease over Q1 2022; 4,291 F-150 Lightning Trucks, despite production halts; and, most notably, the Ford e-Transit, which upped its sales by 62.7 percent.
