Oslo, Norway — According to a recent report made by Norwegian road assistance services, cold weather leads to more breakdowns for fuel-powered vehicles than electric vehicles.
In the first month of the year, Norwegian road assistance service, Viking, responded to 34,000 assistance requests. Of these requests, only 13 percent were for electric vehicles despite the country having a world-leading EV share of more than 24 percent.
This data comes amid contrasting news that EVs and their charging stations are failing in cold conditions throughout North America.
Notably, Natural Resources Canada has recently reported that it is too soon to tell if electric vehicles are reliable in Canadian winters, saying that after six years and $76.1 million in testing, results remain inconclusive.
